CLUB JIVE TEACH WEEKLY CLASSES TO CATER FOR ALL LEVELS OF DANCERS, FROM BEGINNERS TO ADVANCED COMPETITORS. WE PRIDE OURSELVES ON PROFESSIONAL TEACHING IN THE HUNTER AND NEWCASTLE NSW SINCE 2001.
Weekly classes are held every Tuesday night with a small break over the Christmas period each year.
Classes are held at The Hippocrates Centre - 30 Crebert Street, Mayfield NSW 2304.
We are situated in the grounds of Fronditha Nursing Home with safe, on-site parking available, right next door to Mayfield East Primary School. The easiest way to find us is to locate the corners of Crebert Street and Margaret Street and the driveway is directly opposite.
The venue is a lovely fully air-conditioned function centre. You are encouraged to bring your own refreshments as no drinks facilities are available. Iced water is provided and you are welcome to BYO.
Although there is no child care available, we have plenty of space for suitably aged children to sit and watch while you dance! Please note that you are fully responsible for your child and no children are allowed on the dance floor at any time for safety reasons.

WHEN CAN I START?
As we don't teach in blocks or terms, you can start at any time you wish. Each week is taught as a brand new beginner class, always going over the basic hand-hold and footwork for the style. To assist in learning, one beginner move is repeated from the previous week so remembering the moves becomes easier. You will learn 23 beginner moves over approximately 10 weeks after which you will be ready to step into the higher levels.
DO I NEED A PARTNER?
No, you don't need a partner as classes are taught on a rotational basis. You will dance with a mix of levels during rotation including our Consolidation and Mainstream Teaching team. A great way to learn is by dancing through the rotational class. However, if you do come with your partner and do not wish to rotate through the class, that is also quite acceptable. We do suggest trying to get close to the stage to ensure you can see the instructors.
WHAT DO I NEED TO WEAR?
Any smart comfortable clothes and shoes with either a leather or suede sole as these are far easier to turn and move in. Please be aware of personal hygiene and carry a hand towel, deodorant and a clean shirt to change into if necessary. Breath fresheners are also a good idea!
